Trustee Cory J. Wesley is an 11-year resident of Oak Park who first and foremost describes himself as a father, husband, and community volunteer & leader.
He is a current member of the Village Board of Trustees having been appointed to the Board in October ‘22. Cory is also the former Chairman of the Oak Park Economic Development Corporation’s Board of Directors and Co-President of the Southeast Oak Park Community Organization (SEOPCO).
He serves as a board member for for Oak Leyden Developmental Services and is a former 2-term Commissioner on the Village’s Civic Information Systems Commission. Cory’s community involvement also includes serving as a volunteer mentor with Oak Park and River Forest High School’s Business Incubator and with Austin College & Career Academy High School and Hyde Park Academy High School.
Cory ran for Village Trustee in the 2019 consolidated election and finished as the first runner-up to colleagues Trustees Susan Buchanan and Jim Taglia and former Trustee Arti Walker-Peddakotla.
Professionally, Cory has more than 20 years of experience in Information Technology. He is a ServiceNow Solutions Architect and business consultant with his software consulting firm, TekVoyant. He is also a podcast host and a mentor for Black IT professionals looking to join the ServiceNow software ecosystem.
Cory was born and raised in the Lawndale neighborhood on Chicago’s west side. The middle of three boys, he credits the mentorship of his family, and especially his older cousins, for his ability to find success in a society that’s stacked against young Black men.
